MY STORY

Cassidy Schenk

Hi, I’m Cassidy. I created What the Healthcare because I know how strange it feels to be inside the health care system and still not fully understand what is happening around you.

As a patient, I learned how overwhelming care can feel when information is scattered, language is confusing, and the systems meant to help you do not always feel designed for real life.

That experience now shapes my professional work. I hold a B.S. in Risk Management & Insurance, earned a certification in Health Information Technology, and am currently pursuing my MBA at Florida State University. At the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, I work at the intersection of health care transparency, consumer communication, and human-centered design. I help turn complex health information into tools and resources people can actually use.

The question behind all of my work is simple: What would health care feel like if it were designed around understanding?

WHY THIS EXISTS

What the Healthcare is where I break down the parts of health care that make people say, “Wait... WTH?”

Here, I explore health care costs, insurance, patient portals, health technology, consumer tools, transparency, and the bigger design problems that can make people feel lost in the system.
