My name is Cassidy Schenk, and I'm a sophomore studying Risk Management & Insurance, with a certificate in Health Informatics at Florida State University. From an early age, I was drawn to the idea of assessing life's uncertainties, while being very careful to protect what I found most valuable. I was that child who always had a contingency plan for every situation. As I got older I started to become familiar and increasingly curious about the healthcare industry, and how it worked. Little did I know that my upbringing, combined with my personal fascination, would evolve into a lifelong journey, ultimately shaping my personal and professional path within the risk management and insurance industry.
My goal is to use this platform to keep track of the interesting information I learn from my classes, personal research, individuals I meet along the way, and any personal experiences I have in the healthcare field. The healthcare industry is the biggest industry in the world, a key indicator of economic efficiency, a driver of national debt, and a top policy concern for voters. Overall, the cost and quality of healthcare is one of the most important issues facing us today. It's an incredibly complex industry and it's full of problems that not enough people are trying to solve. Everyone needs health care - so it's important to ask questions about the industry, talk about its issues, and start the conversations to stimulate change. The objective of WTH is to share relevant, non partisan views on the healthcare industry, it's complications, and potential solutions to these issues.
